It's true, we have finally moved to our new location at 35 Little Pine Rd. After what has seemed like years of barn dismantling, nail pulling, hay relocating, gravel spreading and stepping on nails, we did the first trips out of our new location today. Many thanks to the hard working and generous staff and friends for their many hours grueling, hot, and often dangerous work. Could not have done it without you. Oh, and there is plenty more to do, don't think you're off the hook yet. And a special thanks to the folks at Stanley's Citgo. Their flexibility and understanding with the lease terms for our original location allowed us to get off the ground. So a new chapter begins for Blue Heron Whitewater as we continue, with your support, to build our new little rafting company. We're getting close. Blue Heron Whitewater is getting close to being able to move to its new location. We've been working on the new outpost, trying to move this season so we can get a feel for the property and that whole traffic flow thing. We will still be in a temporary and transitional phase, with temporary buildings and tarp structures, but we are moving in a positive direction. Frank Bell's rapid is an easy, fun and exciting class IV rapid on North Carolina's French Broad River. This rapid is named for the whitewater pioneer, educator, and camp director Frank Bell. Also known as "Chief", Frank Bell encountered this rapid in the 1920's on a canoe trip from western North Carolina to the Gulf of Mexico. He survived the rapid, but his wood and canvas canoe did not. Not deterred, he bought another canoe and continued on his journey. His name, however, stayed with the rapid.
